Individual Psychotherapy

50 min- $175 / 80 min- $240

We offer individual therapy for children, adolescents, and adults seeking support with short and long-term challenges with mental health, life stressors and well-being. Psychotherapy is an evidence-based practice which involves assessment, collaboration, treatment planning, goal setting and evaluation.

Psychotherapy begins with an Initial Assessment (80min) to discuss present concerns, relevant history, and goal setting, and is followed by 50 minute treatment sessions. The length of frequency of sessions will be discussed in your first session based on your concerns, preferences, and recommendations from your therapist.

Areas of Focus

We support clients navigating anxiety, depression, and emotional overwhelm, as well as deeper wounds like trauma, intergenerational pain, and family shame. Many of the people we work with are holding the weight of cultural expectations, people-pleasing, and the feeling of not being fully understood — even in past therapy spaces. We create space for healing around identity, self-worth, boundaries, and the complex experiences that come with being first-generation, racialized, or between cultures. We’re here to support you through:

Self-esteem

Trauma

Clinical Approaches

At Rooted Banyan Psychotherapy, we integrate a range of evidence-based and holistic approaches, tailored to your lived experiences, cultural context, and emotional needs. Our work is grounded in anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and relational frameworks, with a deep respect for your pace, wisdom, and story. We draw from modalities such as:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to identify and shift unhelpful thoughts, behaviours, and beliefs that affect

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)  to strengthen skills in emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.

Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)  to deepen awareness of emotional patterns and build self-compassion and connection.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)  to help you explore and gently connect with different “parts” of yourself — including those shaped by trauma, protection, and resilience — with compassion and curiosity.

Narrative Therapy  to support you in re-authoring stories shaped by family, culture, and systemic experiences.

Somatic & Mindfulness-Based Approaches to bring awareness and grounding to the body, helping to regulate the nervous system and reconnect with self.

Person-Centered Therapy  to offer a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where you are fully seen, accepted, and empowered to guide your own healing.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)  to help you build psychological flexibility, clarify your values, and take meaningful action, even in the presence of pain or uncertainty.

Inner Child Work & Parts Work  to support healing for younger parts of self carrying pain, unmet needs, or protective roles.

Each approach is offered with cultural humility, warmth, and attunement — recognizing that healing is not linear, and that you are the expert of your own experience.
